New blackmail scheme targets person with nude photos
Criminals have now turned to a new type of blackmailing scheme in an attempt to line their pockets from persons who store sexually explicit photos and videos on their computers and hand-held devices. The scheme involves the hacking of e-mails and phones and removing explicit photos which are then used to blackmail victims for large sums of cash. Read more


Gov't seeks 400 acres of land for rice farming in Westmoreland
The Government, as part of its thrust to reduce the country's annual US$800 million food import bill by almost 30 per cent over the next five years, will be putting put 400 acres of land in Westmoreland under rice cultivation. Agriculture Minister Roger Clarke said the rice project, which could provide a minimum of 800 jobs in the short term, was part of his administration's plans to create jobs. Read more

ALEC is the acronym for The American Legislative Exchange Council. As much as this organization would like you to believe it is non-partisan, it's principles and practices clearly identify it as a conservation group with a heavy pro-business leaning.

This organization is sponsored by big corporations like AT&T, UPS, ExxonMobil, Wal-Mart, Pfizer and Verizon. The laws and policies that this entity recommends benefit these big businesses sometimes to the detriment of consumers. For example, ALEC has crafted laws that make it harder to sue corporations in cases where their products harm consumers.

ALEC is busy writing laws that will affect your child's education. The recent rise in the number of charter schools and the simultaneous attacks on public schools are by design. Charter schools are "cash cows" for many private owners who don't care about the future of your child as long as the money keeps rolling in.

Tamlins comeback? Vintage group embarks on new album
The group THE TAMLINS will release its latest album called Crossover in the summer. "Speaking with The Sunday Gleaner recently, Carlton Smith, who, along with Derrick Lara and Junior Moore, makes up The Tamlins, said...all the songs from the album had already been recorded, but most of them were not yet mixed. Record Producer Winston Riley is dead
RECORD producer and songwriter Winston Riley is dead. Riley died in hospital yesterday from the effects of a gunshot wound he received last year. He was in a coma since he was attacked and shot in the back of the head in November last year.

Winston, who was the father of Fame FM disc jockey Kurt Riley, had been plagued by a series of violent attacks. He was shot in August last year and later stabbed five times in September. Continue
